Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Situated in an atmospheric little village up on the hill above Lago Maggiore. A great place to get away for a couple of days. Nice garden, you are likely to hear the soothing sound of birdsong. Friendly and accommodating staff. I felt very welcome. The small electrical heater was fully sufficient in late April.

Negative: Getting here without a car on the weekend in the colder half of the year requires either good planning, or a good pair of shoes. There is a small connector bus up the hill, terminating a minute away from the hostel, but even in high season it runs with long intervals in the morning, and stops running so early that you'd have to leave Locarno by 18.30/18.45. I think more people would use it, if it ran more frequently. Better than no bus at all, though. Wifi was only possible outside, and best near the closed dining hall downstairs.
